Each day is a gift. We can use it wisely or we can let it slip through our fingers like grains of sand through an hourglass. Once that time allotted to us is past we cannot get it back.
Choose wisely.
The choice is ours. Will we spend that time being productive…or will we waste that time on meaningless or even frivolous pursuits?
It is not just a single choice, it is a combination of many choices, large and small. We are all guilty of saying “I just don’t have enough time”.
Be honest with yourself. Is this true or simply excuses.
I don’t have time to read, study, expand my knowledge, question the narrative, research new information.
I don’t have time to exercise.
I don’t have the time it takes to eat a healthy diet, instead making the choice to eat convenient fast foods and highly processed foods as opposed to preparing healthy meals with whole foods that will provide the nutrients our bodies need to thrive.
I don’t have time to call that friend that may be going through hard times or that is lonely, sad or even depressed.
Try an experiment. Track your average day and how you spend your time.
How much time did you spend scrolling on your phone or computer?
How much time did you spend on social media?
How much time did you spend watching TV or sports?
What you will find is that you do have the time, but you are spending it on things that, in the grand scheme of things, are unproductive and wasted on trivial pursuits and pleasures.
The question to ask ourselves is what we are giving up. What is the cost of focusing our time on relatively meaningless things. How is this use of our time affecting our relationships with those we truly care about…our spouses, children, family, friends?
I am not saying that time spent on these things is necessarily bad. We all need some degree of entertainment and time spent doing things that we enjoy doing. The question is one of time management and making time to do the things that will help us evolve our souls, attend to our health, to learn, to grow and to bless the lives of other’s.
The choice is yours…choose wisely.
